AYSO Region 794 Return to Play Guidelines

The following guidelines are based on the AYSO National Organization and are subject to change. The recommended course of action is that all participants follow your county and state executive orders and public health guidance with regards to community interactions and access to facilities. The information in this document is NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, it is for general information purposes only. As information changes daily with COVID-19, AYSO does not claim or assume responsibility for the entirety of this information. If you have specific questions with regards to health and safety guidelines for your area, we advise that you consult your local public health officials. Please understand it is vitally important to follow the local orders in place.

General Guidance

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers recommendations on how members of the public can limit the spread of the coronavirus. They currently include:

·       Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and exercise equipment (including soccer balls).

·       Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

·       Wear a cloth face covering that covers your nose and mouth in public settings.

·       Stay at least 6 feet away from non-household members. 

·       Cover your mouth and nose with tissue when coughing or sneezing.

·       Stay at home if you are sick.

Overall – Standard Practice

·       Healthy Participants Only: Any players, coaches, spectators who are sick will not be allowed at training sessions.

·       Parents, and family members will abide by social distancing regulations and are strongly encouraged to remain inside their vehicles during practice.

Training Session Procedures

·       An AYSO COVID-19 Return to Play waiver must be completed and signed before a player, trainer/coach, or volunteer can participate in any AYSO on-field activities.

·       No more than 50 participants, including players, trainers/coaches, referees, volunteers, spectators, etc, at any training session.

·       Face masks recommended for trainers / coaches, volunteers, and spectators. Players are expected to wear masks when not participating in soccer activities and when 6 ft. social distancing cannot be maintained.

·       Ample field space will be used to allow physical distancing (at least 6 ft) of participants during skills training.

·       The same training session groups will be maintained. Trainers/coaches, players, and volunteers may not participate in multiple training session groups in order to limit the potential transmission or exposure if a participant tests positive for COVID-19.

·       Spectators, defined as any training session non-participant, are expected to adhere to the following:

    • social distance from non-family members
    • wear masks if appropriate
    • maintain a minimum distance of 30 feet from the field
    • avoid physical interaction with participants. Cheering is encouraged but please avoid any physical contact with participants and field equipment.

·     Snacks are not allowed by any participant. Snacks may not be passed out by anyone before or after any training session.

·     No post activity handshakes, but a verbal recognition of a ‘good game’ is always encouraged.

·     No group celebrations after a goal (no high fives, chest bumps, fist bumps, etc.), a verbal recognition is still encouraged

·     No team benches, a participant can bring a chair for his/her own use. AYSO Safe Haven guidelines will be followed.

Participant Guidelines

Players

·       Inform parent if feeling unwell.

·       Wash hands before and after training.

·       Responsible for cleaning all required equipment after each training sessions (face mask, ball, soccer cleats (or gym shoes), shin guards, etc.).

·       Bring and use your own labeled hand sanitizer at every session.

·       Refrain from touching their face during training sessions.

·       Do not touch or share anyone else’s equipment.

·       Practice physical distancing, place bags and equipment at least 6 feet apart.

·       No sharing drinks or use of water fountains at facility (players must have and mark their own water bottle).

·       No physical greetings with their teammates (verbal acknowledgement is expected).

Parents

·       Ensure your child is healthy. Test child’s temperature before departing for soccer practice (if above 100.4, do not attend).

·       Drop off and pick up players with special care given to the presence of children coming to and from the activity and receive verbal acknowledgement from the trainer/coach each time.

·       Please wait in your car and/or adhere to social distance requirements, based on state and local health requirements and as requested by your trainer/coach or AYSO officials/volunteer.

·       Limit the use of carpools or van pools, and limit passengers to household members.

·       Face masks are recommended.

·       Wash your child’s clothing after every training/activity (recommendation).

·       Sanitize all equipment (ball, cleats (or gym shoes), shin guards, etc.) before and after every practice.

·       Clearly label your child’s water bottle and personal items.

·       Ensure your child has hand sanitizing products with them at every session.

·       Notify your team/club immediately if your child or family member becomes ill for any reason.

·       Do not assist coach with equipment before or after training.

·       It is highly encouraged to follow the 2:1 rule for family member per player. Having non-participating siblings onsite while training sessions occur is highly discouraged.

·       Check Region communications regularly.

Travel Guidance

·       As defined by Cook County, any participant, player or trainer/coach or volunteer, who travels to a high-incidence state for more than 24 hours is recommended to self-quarantine for 14 days upon returning home.

Suspected COVID-19 Symptoms

·      Anyone (player, trainer/coach, parent, volunteer, parent, spectator, etc.) who has tested positive for COVID-19, is experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, including but not limited to fever or respiratory issues, are prohibited from participating in or attending AYSO activities. A full list of COVID-19 symptoms can be found below.

·      Should a participant (player, trainer/coach, parent, volunteer) contract the COVID-19 virus:

·      MG AYSO must be notified immediately via email: [email protected]

·      Participant must quarantine for fourteen (14) days and must submit a confirmed COVID-19 test result of negative to MG AYSO prior to returning to activities.

·      All participants in the training session with the confirmed case will be notified.

·      The training session with the confirmed case will be suspended for fourteen (14) days.

·      Any participant (player, trainer/coach, parent, volunteer) that has been directly exposed to someone who has tested post for the COVID-19 virus may not participate in AYSO activities until they have been quarantined for at least fourteen (14) days without exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms, or a confirmed COVID-19 test result of negative to AYSO. MG AYSO must be notified immediately if the participant has attended any AYSO training sessions.
