Field Set Up & Takedown at Frank Hren Discovery Park

AYSO is an all-volunteer organization, and we work hard to keep our costs down. One of the ways we do this is by asking teams to pitch in with field set up and taking down at Frank Hren Discovery Park. Each Saturday, the teams with opening and closing games will have field set up and takedown duties.  All equipment is stored at the shed at Frank Hren Discovery Park.  

Morning Field Set Up

Field equipment will be available starting around 8:30 AM at the shed at Frank Hren Discovery Park.  Teams with opening games must pick up the goals & goal stakes (U6 & U8 divisions only), corner stakes, and signs for their fields .  Goal are colored based on size:

U-6 - Red Goals

U08 -White Goals

The U-6 and U-8 goals can be transported by a single person, although it is typically easier for two people to carry. 

For the U10 and U12 divisions, the goals remain up throughout the season so teams are responsible for set up and take-down and of the corner flags and signs on their fields.

Field Setup Tips:

• Goals should be centered on the endline of the field and seured to the ground the provided goal stakes.  Two stakes should be positioned on the bars on the side of the goal and two stakes should be positioned on the bar at the back of the goal.  A mallet or hammer will be available to pound the goal stakes into the ground.  The goal should not move after the stakes secure the goal to the ground.

• Four corner flags should be positioned at the four corners of the field.  Corner flags should be secured in the ground by stepping on the metal plate and stake that hold the flag.

• Field signs should be placed throughout the park although should not interfere with play on the soccer fields

End-of-Day Field Takedown

Both teams playing the final game of the day on their field should take the goals & goal stakes (U6 & U8 Divisions only), corner flags, and signs to the shed ar Frank Hren Discovery Park. 

Field Takedown Tips:

• For U-6 & U-8 fields, goal stakes should be removed by hand which will allow the goal to be transported.  

• Remove the corner flags by pull up on the metal plate and stake that connect it to the ground, NOT the the white post or flag.  

• Field signs should be removed by pulling up on the metal stakes that support the sign. 

• Take all equipment to the shed at Frank Hren Discovery Park.
